Dallas Borough Council announces the 2015 schedule of public meetings for the regular monthly Council meetings held on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. and the work sessions to be held at 7:00 p.m. on the Monday prior to the regular Council meetings as follows:

Meetings are held in the Dallas Borough Council Chambers at the Dallas Borough Municipal Building, 25 Main Street, Dallas, PA 18612. Individuals requiring special assistance to attend the public meetings are asked to contact the Dallas Borough administrative office at 570-675-1389 prior to the meeting.

How to Guard Against Utility Imposters


You hear about it all too often in the news: An unsuspecting homeowner victimized by thieves posing as utility company workers to gain entry and rob the house. You can prevent utility imposters from targeting you by taking precautions to protect yourself.


Individuals claiming to represent the “water company” or another utility will approach the resident and use a variety of excuses to enter the home. For example, they are supposedly investigating a “dirty water” complaint by a neighbor or checking water pressure due to a main break nearby. Once inside the home, the imposters typically divert the resident’s attention by sending him/her to the basement or kitchen to run a faucet while they or an accomplice robs another area of the home.   


First, it is extremely rare for water company personnel to show up at a customer’s home without an appointment. However, if a utility worker comes to your door and you are not expecting them, DO NOT let them inside without proper identification. All Pennsylvania American Water service personnel wear uniforms, drive company-branded vehicles and wear photo ID badges with the company’s logo. (IMPORTANT: Company employees will never ask for nor accept payment at a customer’s home or business.)


Don’t be afraid to ask for photo ID, and take the time to examine the ID badge whenever someone from a utility company arrives at your home. If you are still unsure and have any suspicions about the individual’s identity, call 9-1-1 immediately. Also, you can contact Pennsylvania American Water’s customer service center (800-565-7292) to check if the service visit is legitimate.


Please share this advice with family and friends, particularly seniors who often fall prey to these thieves.

Dallas Borough Announces
Schedule for the Curbside Pick Up
and Recycling of Christmas Trees

The Dallas Borough Road Department will commence curbside collection of Christmas trees on January 5, 2015 and continue through unitl January 23, 2015.

Christmas trees must have all decorations removed prior to being placed curbside. Residents are to refrain from placing their trees curbside prior to weather predictions of snow and/or freezing rain events.

Dallas Borough thanks our residents for their assistance and cooperation in the Christmas Tree collection program. Any questions or comments may be directed to the Road Department at 570-674-5362 or Administrative Office 570-675-1389.

Winter Is Upon Us: Please Comply with the Following
It is the duty of the owner, tenant or occupant of any lot or land or real estate in the Borough of Dallas to clear the entire width of the sidewalks contiguous thereto of all snow or ice within twenty-four (24) hours after the cessation of any storm or fall of snow. However, in the event that snow and ice on a sidewalk have become so hard or that the snow and ice cannot reasonably be removed, the person or entity charged with removal shall take steps to make the sidewalk safe for travel and as soon as possible thereafter as the weather permits cause said sidewalk to be thoroughly cleaned. 
 It is unlawful for any person, persons, firm, corporation, or entity owning or occupying any property abutting or bordering upon any street or highway in this Borough to deposit, throw or shovel or to cause, allow or permit any person or persons to deposit, throw or shovel any snow or ice in and upon the travelled portion of any such street or highway, or on or immediately next to a fire hydrant.
It shall be unlawful to operate or allow persons to operate licensed motor vehicles on sidewalks except those areas designated as driveway aprons.  Driveway aprons are those areas between driveways and roadways which provide both pedestrian traffic along sidewalks and vehicular traffic to designated driveways.
The owner of a vehicle (or any other obstruction) or entity in whose name it is registered shall not allow, or permit such vehicle to stand or park in any street, or roadway under the control or jurisdiction of the Borough, in such manner as to interfere with the work of removing or plowing snow or removing ice. 
After a snowfall of one inch or more, (as measured by the Dallas Borough Road Department) parking of any motor vehicle as defined under the Motor Vehicle Code of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, or any other trailer, dumpster or obstruction shall be prohibited on streets and roadways within the control or jurisdiction of Dallas Borough as hereinafter specified.  Immediately upon a deposit of one inch of snow, parking shall be prohibited on all streets and roadways under the control or jurisdiction of the Borough for a period of three (3) days for the purpose of clearing snow and ice.  Vehicles not removed from streets or roadways will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.
